Journeys is our project in the NAIP Blended Mobility 2017 course where we explored the idea of investigating/unearthing cultures through creating a sound collage, and live performance with field recordings in a particular space, which in this case is Reykjavik. Perhaps this would serve as a model for documentary/sharing as well as interacting with cultures lesser known around the world.

We had three phases in our project:

Step 1: take field recordings along with visual documentation, interact with the people, the environment, as well as nature.

Step 2: Interpret the field recordings further, with instruments too

Step 3: Make a piece!

We had two versions, the first one was a mix put together by me using the field recordings as well as the effects and sounds that we recorded, Michela on the harp and Rachel on the flute/piano.
